Represent Dance Competition - Edmonton’s newest all hip hop festival / competition - Myer Horowitz: April 5-7, 2012.
We are very excited to introduce a brand new all hip hop competition, hitting Edmonton April 2012: Represent Dance!A message from the director,
Dear Studio Owners,While we are certain you are in the process of choosing your competitions for this coming year, we hope that you will consider a new event, “Represent Dance”.
Represent will be coming to Edmonton on April 5 - 8, 2012 at the Myer Horowitz Theatre.
We’ve created Represent as an additional outlet for the hip hop community in Edmonton, as we firmly believe that all competitive hip hop dancers, classes and groups deserve an authentic hip hop adjudication. With that in mind, we are certain that this new event, featuring both a festival day, a formal competition and a workshop, will have something for everyone! Studio owners can enjoy the online registration and adjudication sheets, making pre and post competition wrap-up a breeze! Parents can look forward to detailed and knowledgable judging, as well as multiple adjudications per category for an interesting and timely event. In addition, dancers can look forward to up to $10,000 in cash prizes, innovative new awards, and top notch judges with extensive hip hop backgrounds. Represent will also include an affordable workshop, featuring our adjudicators.
Also Featuring:
- Pre-professional crews: designed to highlight student-based choreography
- Professional crew battle
- Festival component for 1st year - beginner performers that are not quite ready for formal competition
- Workshop on April 8th , featuring this year’s adjudicators. Location TBD.

Richard Andries has been teaching hip hop in Edmonton for over 10 years & is a founding member of the professional dance crew White Chocolate. He has taught and performed around the world including, China, Spain & Detroit. Richard continues to share his love of the hip hop culture & dance with the Edmonton community by continuing to perform, take and hold workshops and now host Represent Dance.

Daniel Andries has also been teaching hip hop in & around Edmonton for over 10 years & is a member of the professional dance crew White Chocolate.
